Fathers Day weekend

We had some visitors come this weekend.. Alyssa, julie and ethan, and baby megan. It was fun. Went bowling with the kids (sorry no pictures of that) to the zoo, out to eat. And that's where it gets fun. We went to Red Birds saturday night, no nap for the kids. So I look down and Jack, and find a piece of pizza hanging out of his mouth, as he drifts off to sleep, right there at the table. Oh what a site. We didn't get the pizza shot, but here's one a few minutes later.
They had a good time.

Life is a highway

I did forget one adventure we had last weekend. Friday night, was the opening night of the movie "Cars". And we took the kids to see. Not only did they get to stay out late, eat late. But we all experienced something together for the first time... a movie at the Drive-In. It was fun. The movie was awesome, maybe one of the best I've seen. Go see it.

Busy June

This last week was a busy one. We celebrated our 10th anniversary last week, with a night out. I drew the picture for us, depicting our marriage, and life together seen below. And of course, who could celebrate an anniversary without two lips.
Nana sent the kids a tape of her reading books, so now, for story time, they sit on the couch, and listen to Nana reading. They really enjoy it.
Tate has given the world book encylopedias a workout. They have not seen so much action in the past 35yrs. The kids got to go swim this week at a friends house, and go down a big slide. They loved it. The other day, they went to the mall and rode one of those toys that looked like a spaceship. At first, Jackson didn't want to and was scared. But after all the fun, he told mommy on the way to the car, "at first I was scared, but then I rememberd I don't need to be scared, because God is with me in my heart all the time."
Ahh.. finally. Some fruit to our toiling. Ha.

playing mr. mom

So what's it really like staying home with the kids? Well, luckily Jen has been through this before, and was adamant on having a schedule so that everyone would not go crazy. So begin our time here in this new season... we have school at home. Few days a week they go to 'day school' at a church, and little T and I have some time alone. The other 3 days, we mix it up. Go on walks, go to the library once a week for story time, but definitely, 20-40 minutes of school. Where we learn our ABC's, words and songs, the pledge of allegiance (which they don't understand is not just once a year), coloring, gluing, writing on the chalkboard. But Blakelys favorite time is show and tell. At least that's what she told mom yesterday.
That's when I realized, this isn't just stuff to fill time, or keep me sane, or add events to an empty day. This is their life with dad. For a few months, these 3 kids have something special. And I'm glad I have it with them. Their mom can never be replaced, for she is important and valuable and perfect. I am glad to be their dad.

1st Annual WaterDay

We had a great time yesterday in the front yard, wasting water in abilene, as we filled our new animal pool and got out the slip n' slide. Especially in the 95degree heat. The kids loved it. So here are some pics below. You may be wondering who that big kid is... it's Tate. He learned to crawl in the pool ... and out. Although, he was better getting in.

Our birthdays

The other day, Tate and I celebrated our birthdays. He was 9months. I was a year older. Ha.
We've made good progress this week in Jacks bathroom trips, and probably broke some records of the longest "yards". He also learned this week, that he can change his own clothes, take them off, and put them on. That has really given us a few more minutes of freedom. Ahh.
Today is cousin Alyssas birthday, and we'll be missing it. So we hope she has a good party without us. We did make a little video for her, but it's too big to put out for public viewing. So if you stop by her house, make sure you ask to see it. It's got outtakes and all. Which brings me to our next improvement, a DVD burner.

So what do you get a dad for his 32nd birthday. How about a watch, Robert Earl Keen and Billy Joe Shaver CDs, and our favorite gift of all... a new 01 Hat, seen below.
